"Rei" the little Princess
|
11th May - Sorry its been a while since last updating the blog, but things have been quite busy around here. With visitors, kids, birthdays, work and not to mention 6 little hungry mouths to feed and clean up after.
They are getting HUGE, all are now walking around, playing and all are developing their unique personalities. We have Goose who is sooooo placid and is the layback king. He just sits back and watches all the goings on, and when its food time and they are all barking he just sits back and say "Whats the rush"?. Then there is the little dark boy, his nickname is "Agro". He is the fastest on his feet, and there is NO stopping him. He is a long as he is wide and is going to be a little nugget. When you pick him up and talk to him, he barks at you, like hes talking back. When it comes to dinner he is a maniac and eats himself stupid. We have "Kanook" the big white fella that looks like a big cuddly polar bear. He is like the naughty kid at school - adorable but incredibly annoying. He is the one that wakes up the tribe and stirs everyone up. I am going to buy him a dummy as he is constantly sucking on his brothers and sister and quite often they have soggy ears. The last boy dosnt really have a name. He is a bit of a cross between all of them, and just seems to chill and then gets amongst it when the rough stuff starts. The girls are sweet and they are both very lady like. Rei is the little dark girl she is soooo sweet and has lovely big girly eye lashes. Maya is a big girl, who loves her food. She is playful without being to rough, but is always the first awake with the smell of food in the morning.
Worming again tomorrow, and hopefully out on the lawn on the weekend. They sleep inside at night time - with their heat pad and heat light to keep them nice and warm, and now during the day they are in the puppy run, with toys, lots of newspaper, blankets and a hot water bottle. They have taken to this really well and all have a rumble when first going out there in the morning. They now sleep all night after having some warm milk and porridge before bedtime, and then I get up in the morning to a wonderful mess to start the day.....BUT GUESS WHAT?...I wouldnt have it any other way...I LOVE IT!

22nd April - Pups are doing really well and so is Mum. She is giving everything to the pups and while they are fat as toads she is a little on the lean side. We are feeding her everytime she feeds the puppies and she is slowly gaining but it is only another 10 days or so and we can start these little tigers on solids. There eyes should start to open in a couple of days time and they will start to get a little more interested instead of crying, eating and pooping. I have attached a photo of the tribe taken today. 4 boys at the top of the picture and the 2 girls on the bottom.

17th April - Well ,I can finally breath now that they are 5 days old and are looking great. They are feeding well and have lost the excess fluid. Booger is a great Mum and while she is happy to ly there all day and feed them she is not neurotic and welcomes all the extra attention. The puppies are 3 different shades of Brindle - dark, red and fawn - with a stunning white boy thrown in the mix. They are feeding every 3 hours and will move from the puppy box into the whelping box today. They are just getting way too big. We currently have visitors staying with us and the kids are having a ball "helping out"

13th April.
Booger had 6 babies yesterday after a very long few days. They were born a few days early but are a good size and seem to be quite vigarous. A couple of them have a little bit of extra fluid but they seem to be OK at this stage. Only time will tell.
Booger is taking to motherhood like duck to water. I honestly thought she would be a nightmare as she is such a clown of a dog. She is very interested in them when they are squeaking away and she looks at them as if they are one of her toys. She sleeps away while they feed and seems to be very content. Her milk is coming in very slowly and we are topping the babies up with a bottle until her milk supply increases. This is my very first litter of brindle puppies. There is 2 very dark brindles, 1 red brindle,2 fawn brindles and an all white puppy. They are all around the same weight and are a very good size. 400 - 500 gms each. My wonderful husband did puppy duties last night and let me sleep as I have been up for 3 nights with Booger getting her through those final last days. They had him up every 1 1/2 - 2 hours and he looked a little worse for wear this morning. Lets hope they settle a bit over the next few days and we all get into a routine.

10th April - Ok so Booger is due on Friday - thats not going to happen - She is quite big and is carrying some fluid at the moment, Dr Phil has confirmed (on Friday), that after an ultrasound, the babies are doing well at this stage. Everyday we can keep them in there is a bonus at the moment, but as soon as she has had enough we will organise delivery. Last night I spent lying beside her in the lounge room and between us I think we got 2 hours sleep. She cannot ly down without my help and then I need to help her to get back up. Will call Dr Phil tomorrow and discuss our options. There is a few puppies in there but not too sure how many - I guess only time will tell. Andrew was joking there was only 3, Dr Phil said to take that bet as it is a very safe one. She has put on over 6.5 kg in the last 9 weeks and believe me she is feeling it. Her diet now consists of whatever she will eat and very small amounts - her favourite is BBQ chicken. I am praying that she will be OK as anyone who knows us knows that Booger is extremely special to me and she is my little mate, loving just chillin, riding in the car or going to the beach. Once Booger has finished with Babies her and I are going to take agility classes during the week. I think she will be great as she is very athletic and will do absolutely anything for a toy (especially if it has a squeaker in it). My little mate has the best personality and it is exactly why I feel in love with this breed, her nature reminds us of our dear Elvis, who passed away some years back with lymphoma. She is such a clown and will do anything to please. With the combination of our loveable Cameron, who is the gentle giant and a huge softy, these puppies will have some outstanding personalities.

Its been a little while since I have written but I was having a few computer and telstra line hiccups...all sorted now. The girls are just adorable and just love hanging out with the bigger dogs..especially their Dad. He is a big fella but such a softy with the babies.
The 2 girls love coming down to the kennels in the morning and letting everyone out. The run around and bark at them and then sit back and watch me clean. Harley has now come out of her shell and is very full of herself. Daisy is the one that gets distracted by anything and I am sure she is blond. They both have great personalities but coming from Lilly and Cameron I am not surprised.
Booger is now getting big and has 2 1/2 weeks to go. She has taken very well to her new comfy bed in the lounge room and is getting spoilt with lots of new toys.

13th March - Well the girls are certainly getting very big and cheeky now. They are extremely playful and the only time they stop is when their sleeping. Lil Daisy gave us a scare on Thursday night, she spent the evening at the emergency centre as she had a very sore tummy - Daisy had got into some extra food and had eaten WAY too much. After a weeks wages and a big poo she was allowed to go home. By the time we got home (at midnight) she was barking at me looking for her dinner. Nice one Daisy, way to spend my Birthday - pacing the floor at the vets wondering what was wrong with you? She is as good as gold now and I am extra careful on how much food they have access to. Well the time has flown and the girls are off for their 6 week vaccination and vet check this weekend - I can't believe the time has flown so fast.

5th March
Well it has been a week since my last blog and what a busy week it has been. The girls are now fully weaned and not having any milk from the Mum. Lilly has now gone back to Marie, Cameron and Romans house to retire on their lounge. Thanks for taking such good care of our girl. The girls little personalities are really starting to shine, with Harley (the red girl) being big, fat a lazy, and extremely cautious of anything new, where Daisy is the opposite. She wakes up barking and hungry, eats and then is off exploring. She wags her little tail all the time. Harley gets amongst it once her sister has taken the intial steps. They both like to sit and bark at the bigger dogs.
No lawn today as the weather is not crash hot but tomorrow will set up a play pen in the garage with some new toys that we bought today. They have become such time wasters and I have been late for work a couple of times this week, as I can sit and watch them for hours.

Babies are loving their solids - and so am I...sleeping right through the night now....heaven! Lil Miss Daisy has full pigment around her eyes - I have never had a puppy who had it from so early...it looks beautiful. Tomorrow will be a big day for the little girls - there first day out on the lawn. I am sure there will be a few tears but they will learn its a fun place to explore. They are not feeding off their mum as much now, hope to have them weaned in the next week or so as Lilly is starting to get a bit over feeding them..I guess now they have started to get teeth its not as much fun...ouch!

24th Feb
First feed of porridge tonight and to say it was a hit is an understatement. We had porridge everywhere and I think I had just as much on me as they had on each other. They have just started interacting with each other and Harley (red girl) was giving Daisy a good chew on the ear. They are getting more and more curious and have started venturing off the bunny rug and have started to explore their surroundings. Hopefully tonight we will get a full night sleep as the 2 munchkins have a very fat belly. More photos to come on the weekend.
